Conrad A. Panganiban, Jr.
Conrad was born in Monterey, CA in 1972 to Conrado S. and Lourdes A. Panganiban. Both of his parents are from the province of Batangas in the Philippines. Both sets of his grandparents (Timeteo & Batisara on father's side and Martin & Agapita on his mother's side) were farmers. Each of his parents had 4 other siblings. Conrado's Sr.'s older brother, Venancio, was the first of his family to join the U.S. Navy in the 1950s. After petitioning for Conrado Sr., also known as "Rudy," he joined his brother and family in the Baltimore, MD. His father joined the U.S. Navy in 1969 in Guam after he moved there when his brother was transferred there. When Rudy was stationed at Subic Bay, he married his mother in 1970. Then they both migrated to the Monterey Area, located in the Central California Region of the United States, to be reunited with his brother where he was stationed at the Naval Postgraduate School.
Conrad Jr. grew up in Marina, CA and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in New Media from the Academy of Art College (now University) in San Francisco. He is currently pursuing his Master of Fine Arts Degree in Creative Writing with a focus on Playwriting at San Francisco State University. As an emerging playwright, his work has been seen in San Francisco, Sacramento, Chicago, Toronto, Melbourne, Scotland, and Manila. Conrad’s awards include: INAY’S WEDDING DRESS – Winner: James Milton Highsmith Drama Award; THE BARBARY CAPER – First Place: Playwrights CageMatch Script Competition (Douglas Morrison Theatre); and PRINSESA – Audience Award for Best Screenplay (Scary Cow Film Festival).
